What you’ll do
Imagine a whole city transformed into a giant street festival filled with music, dancing and towering, hand-sculpted statues. The Ganesh Festival honours the beloved elephant-headed deity, who symbolises new beginnings and the removal of obstacles. During the festival, you will be taken to the heart of Pune to witness the incredible 'Mandals' — elaborate public stages — and experience the rhythmic beat of traditional drum circles. The energy is infectious and the air is filled with the scents of incense and marigold flowers.
While the public celebrations are spectacular, we will also take you behind the scenes for a more intimate experience. You will have the opportunity to connect with local communities and/or visit the homes of locals to discover how the festival is celebrated in different settings, and learn about the tradition of offering modak sweets to welcome Ganesh.
This is a Sangam CULTURAL event.
