What you’ll do

At this event you will get to know a real, magical and adventurous Mexico, living the culture to the fullest through the Day of the Dead. Experience this great celebration at Nuestra Cabaña!

Discover how the streets fill with colorful ofrendas (altars), cempasúchil and flickering candles to celebrate the return to Earth of deceased relatives and loved ones. This very special holiday is recognized by the United Nations for its cultural importance.

Participate in captivating traditions, accepting death as a natural part of life, and create a joyful atmosphere full of laughter, music and delicious culinary delicacies, connecting with the local community through a meaningful community action activity.

Program

The weeklong program incorporates international connection with Global Girl Guides/Girl Scouts; programming with smallgroup workshops, leadership development, and ceremonies; cultural immersion through song, dance, storytelling, crafts, local Mexican traditions; environmental and sustainability competency; free time for participants to explore, swim, rest, or relax; reflection and growth via evening programs, sharing, leadership sessions

World Center Experience

Learning new crosscultural understanding and environmental awareness; while growing confidence through defined learning outcomes for the participants

Community Action

Through meaningful, handson service projects with local community partners in need. Make the world a better place as you support our local Mexican organizations

About Nuestra Cabana

Nuestra Cabaña, located in the “City of Eternal Spring”, Cuernavaca, Mexico, is one of the five WAGGGS World Centres. Since opening in 1957 Nuestra Cabaña has welcomed guests from all around the world and offered a range of activities and programmes from environmental activism to girls’ leadership.
